Mandela Day: Hemingways rises against hunger
The team at Hemingways Casino, East London’s favourite entertainment destination, spent their 67 Mandela Day minutes packing meals in a drive to fight the scourge of global hunger on Saturday, 20 July at Hemingways Mall.
The Hemingways Casino team joined the Rise Against Hunger team, along with various other corporates in an initiative that only needs 20 people to pack up to 2 500 meals in 1 hour. This is enough to feed 11 children 5 meals per week for an entire year! Hemingways Casino donated R12 000 to enter a team of 20 volunteers for this very worthy cause.
Rise Against Hunger is an international hunger relief organisation that coordinates the distribution of food and other life-saving aid around the world. Rise Against Hunger works with international partners that ship and distribute the meals in-country. Due to the ease of assembly and transport, meals can be shipped to areas in crisis.
